Many thanks for your support and understanding.

    Chili Challenges!

Please note that all Year 1 - 5 Prep Projects should be sent to your child's class teacher no later than Thursday 19th October.

Early Years Chilli Challenges may be handed into class on Thursday 19th October. We invite parents into class on Monday 23rd October at 12.10pm to celebrate these with us and allow your child the opportunity to show you around their new learning environment.

    Year 1 – 5 Celebration Afternoon

The Celebration Afternoon will take place on Tuesday 24th October from 2.00 pm. All parents are cordially invited to their child's class in order to share the learning journeys for the first half of the term.

    Weekly parent emails

Pre-Prep will be using the '2Simple' Software for the weekly e-mails after the Half Term break. This system is the same high-quality system used in Early Years and has received overwhelmingly positive parent feedback.
Please could all parents ensure that their e-mails are correct and up-to-date. If there are any changes, please ensure they are updated centrally and that the class teacher has the correct version.

An explanation e-mail will be sent to all parents during the week beginning 15th October and the class teacher will then send an invitation e-mail, marked from 2Simple, during the week beginning 22nd October. Please check your 'Spam' or 'Junk' boxes for this email.

    Ski Trip 2018

Although the Spring Break seems a long way off, we are very excited to be able to offer pupils the opportunity to Ski with us in Urdens, Austria from Friday 30th March to Saturday 7th April 2018. This is a co-educational, residential trip for pupils in Year 9 to Year 13, using the UK based company Ski Astons of Worcester. A letter from Miss Louiza May, with more information can be read here. We will be holding an informational meeting on Tuesday 17th October in the College Theatre at 4:10pm for all parents who would like more information and the opportunity to ask questions.

    Competitions

Pupils of all ages at Brighton College Al Ain have the opportunity to enter two prestigious creative writing competitions. The Taaleem Poetry Award is looking for entrants to submit an original poem in English or Arabic on the theme of ‘Memories.’  The poem should be no longer than 32 lines. The Oxford University Press – working in conjunction with Taaleem- is looking for original short stories on the same theme, in English or Arabic. A poster can be viewed here for the poetry competition and here for the story competition.

Winners will get their work published in an anthology and be given five copies of the anthology. They will also receive a trophy and the opportunity to join a session at the 2018 Emirates Airlines Literature Festival. Entries need to be submitted either to English teachers or emailed to dsinclairsmith@brightoncollegealain.ae       Good luck!

    Morning punctuality

Please be reminded that the College day begins promptly at 7.50am. Pupils arriving through the doors of their building after 7.48am will be considered late as they will not be able to arrive at their Houses and ready for their day by the 7.50 start time. Pupils that arrive late will serve a short detention at Morning Break on the day of their late arrival. They will still have time to have a short break.

We ask parents and carers to do all they can to support the punctual arrival of pupils in the morning so that they can be ready and prepared for their busy day.

Many thanks in advance for your support and understanding in this matter.

    Textbooks

Please could parents check at home for any science textbooks that pupils may have accidentally borrowed and taken home. We had 20 ‘Activate 3’ yellow textbooks and now we only have 7. Your support is greatly appreciated.
