    We extend a warm welcome back to all the pupils and staff and wish them the very best for this academic year.

    Notification of Absence

    As the first week of the new academic year comes to an end, please could all parents kindly remember if your son or daughter is going to be absent from school, then it is important that you let the College know. 
     

    Please telephone the College Reception on 03 7133 999 / 996 or email absence@brightoncollegealain.ae stating the name of your child, year group, reason for absence and any other details you feel are important. We thank you for your co-operation with this procedure.

    Jeans for Genes Day    

    Jeans for Genes Awareness Day will be celebrated on Wednesday 20th September in both Junior School and Senior School. It is a great way to bring the whole College together and raise awareness for children with genetic disorders. Pupils will be allowed to wear jeans or denim instead of their normal school trousers or skirts, but must still wear the top half of their uniform. Footwear can be an alternative to school shoes, but must be appropriate for College (i.e. no heels, flip flops, etc.).     Instrumental Music Programme Year 1 - 13

    Our instrumental music program will be starting in Week 3 of this term. If you would like your child to receive lessons, a letter from the Director of Performing Arts, outlining the program, can be viewed here and a form can be downloaded here. These should be completed and handed in to the Performing Arts Department as soon as possible. 
     
    Please note that it is necessary to re-register for the coming academic year even if your child has taken lessons before.
     

    PE Kit

    The PE Department are looking forward to seeing your child participate in lessons and also the wide range of sporting ECAs that will be on offer in both the Junior and Senior School. To enable your child to participate fully in all activities please ensure your child has the correct kit details of which can be found here
     

    Swimming Squad Trials

    If your son/daughter wishes to trial for the Swimming Squad, we are running trials on the dates below. Parents/Pupils will be informed before the end of the week if they have been successful and how many times they will be expected to train per week. Please rest assured that we will be extremely flexible with the days they are expected to train so that they are able to attend other ECAs if they wish to do so, wherever possible.
     
    Primary Team Trials (Years 3-6) - 3.10-4.15 on Sunday 17th September and Monday 18th September
    Senior Team Trials (Years 7-13) - 3.10-4.15 on Tuesday 19th September and Wednesday 20th September
     
    Please note your son/daughter is only expected to attend one of the trial sessions. Please select the day that is most suitable for you and collect your son/daughter at the end of the session.

    Early Years Information Session

    We will be having an Early Years Information Session on Monday 18th September. This will be at 1.10 and held in the Junior School Dining Room. This meeting will discuss the curriculum, logistics of our day and necessary information regarding changes to the way we send emails. Please note that for parents attending the meeting your FS aged children may remain in their class groups, but they must be collected promptly when the meeting has finished. 
     
     

    Pre-Prep Workshops

    Parents are cordially invited to attend Pre-Prep and Prep Workshops in the Junior School Dining Room. These workshops will outline the philosophy of teaching and learning within the phase and provide information regarding the curriculum and home learning.  
     
    Year 1-2: Tuesday 26th September at 2.00pm
    Year 3-5: Wednesday 27th September at 2.00pm

    Electives, ECAs & SchoolsBuddy

    Electives will begin on Monday 25th September and are only on Mondays and Tuesdays 2.30-3pm. ECAs begin on Sunday 17th September and there are activities on all days of the week. Sign up for these programmes will be done via the new SchoolsBuddy platform. 
     
    Please look out for the letter your child will bring home on Wednesday 13th September.
     
    You will receive an activation email, for SchoolsBuddy, labelled BCAA. On receipt of this email, please register and sign-up for both Electives and ECAs.

    Please ensure that arrangements are in place for your child to be collected at 4.15 if he/she has an ECA. Collection time is 3.00 for pupils with no ECAs.
     

    UK Universities Information Evening, Monday 18th September

    This term promises to be a busy, intense and highly rewarding term and a crucial one for both Lower and Upper Sixth in so many different ways. We are holding an information session at 6.00pm in the College Theatre on Monday 18th September. Invitation letters have been sent out to parents of pupils in the Sixth Form. 
     

    Spelling Bee Championship UAE 2017   

    Brighton College Al Ain has been invited to participate in The Spelling Bee Championship UAE 2017-2018: This is the 4th edition of this prestigious, nation-wide even. Launched in the UAE in 2011, The Spelling Bee Championship UAE was the first of its kind in the region. 
    Format of the Championship
    Pupils between Years 6 and 10 (session 2017/18) are eligible to enroll. The Championship Final will be held in Dubai in February 2018. 
    Total prize money distributed will be AED82,500 with the winner receiving AED25,000, the 1st Runner Up receiving AED15,000 and the 2nd Runner Up receiving AED10,000!
    The winner of the Spelling Bee Championship UAE 2017-2018 will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to witness the finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition!
    How to enter
